First Woman & Lesbian Pastor of MCC in the Philippines

Welcome-Ptr-Kakay

We officially welcome Pastor Kakay Pamaran as the new Interim Pastoral Leader of Mcc QuezonCity tomorrow, June 16 in a special ceremony.

A little something about her: Pastor Kakay responded to the call of leadership while pursuing her Masters in Divinity at Union Theological Seminary. She will be the first woman and lesbian pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church in the Philippines. She will represent the country in the upcoming General Conference of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC) in Chicago on July 2013.

More about Pastor Kakay from our community members:

“Marami akong mga bagay na natutunan sa kanya. Subalit ang pinakanagmarka ay kung paano matutong umunawa at tanggapin ang tao, lalo na yong hindi katanggap-tanggap sa personal kong batayan. Sa kanya ko natutunan, na dapat wag ka lamang tumuon sa taong mabuti sa yo. Mabuti o hindi, pantay ang pagmamahal ng Diyos at yon ay dapat ding tupdin nating mga tao.” – Oliver Andaya

“I learned from her the importance of Discernment… and also no matter how difficult it is, we must always exhaust ALL efforts to save someone.” – Bro. Joseph Tiu

“She made me realize that while everything comes with great planning, timing and execution, one needs to have the purest of intentions anchored by the basic tenets of his/her faith.” – Ivan Near

“The rebirth of MCC Quezon City was brought about by collective efforts. Leadership came from all sides of the community with different expertise coming together. Kakay knows that she is only one of a team, a community called by God: she emphasizes it, she embraces it, she is relieved by it, she’s empowered by it. That kind of humility is a good starting point for any leader.” – Red Macalalad

“You would never run out of ideas and experiences to learn from Kakay. An hour of conversation with her is priceless.” – John Paul Andaquig

“Pastor Kakay is a sister to me first and foremost. And as my pastor my impression is she knows how to balance things and marunong syang makinig at umunawa.” – Yhel Briguela

“Sister Kakay is a good listener, open and staightforward na kaibgan. Hanga ako sa courage nya to lead and she is using the knowledge and the skills God has given her to empower us.” – Rj Hirang

“She is a jolly person. Makulit sya. Ang dali pa nya i-approach.” –Marky Maramot
