Statement On The Arrest Of Pride Activists In Mendiola

We join our voice with our LGBQIA+ siblings and allies for the immediate release of the activists who conducted a peaceful protest rally in Mendiola, observing proper social distancing and wearing masks.

We affirm that Pride was rooted in the 1969 Stonewall uprising of LGBTQI+ people against police brutality and state oppression. Metropolitan Community Church founded in 1968 has always been part and actively involved in the LGBTQI+ movement fighting for civil rights, marriage equality, HIV activism and fighting against discrimination. Our our core values of Community, Inclusion, Spiritual Transformation and Justice calls us to stand with and for the oppressed.

Our core values, biblically rooted and theologically sound, calls us to also protest wherever and whenever there’s injustice, corruption and oppression.

Release the PRIDE20! Sulong! Wag Patinag!
